Yusuf’s Cafe

Recently I watched the Yusuf's Cafe Session DVD which contains Yusuf Islam's live performance at Porchester Hall in London as well as an interview by the BBC's Alan Yentob. The interview was for me the most interesting bit.

It is amazing, again and again, to see how Yusuf Islam has evolved since his days as the popstar Cat Stevens. An aura of humility and calmness surrounds him now. He appears to be in tune with his life and surroundings, quite different from the searching Cat of old. No longer is he on the path to find out. He has found what he was looking for.

If you too are a fan of Yusuf Islam make sure to get a copy of this DVD, you will not regret it. The live performance of his newly released songs (the album is called An Other Cup) proves that his talents have not diminished despite a lengthy break from the music industry that spans some 28 years.

He always seems to come to the rescue, in the 1960's his songs captured the mood and questions of that era, today, once again, his songs bear so much relevance to life's issues.
