Ubuntu theme & wallpaper – August – Dark Wood
Currently, as my GNOME wallpaper in Ubuntu, I am using Dark Wood by *zygat3r from deviantART. It's a very dark wallpaper but looks great in my opinion. I am a minimalist, and so as you can tell from the screen-shot of my desktop, it's a barren landscape.

Hey, I’m er, fairly new to the whole Ubuntu thing coming across from OS:X. How to I get my desktop set up like yours? Currently it is quite Windows-esque with a taskbar running end to end at the bottom with the space switcher in the corner, and an end to end taskbar at the top in its default configuration. Is it easy to customise it to something like what you have?
Thanks, even if you can’t help I’m grateful for the wallpaper

Hi
All you need to do is right-click on a panel, go to Properties and un-tick ‘Expand’. Your panel will shrink to fit the contents.

Oh the one other quick thing is it still shows then names of things I have open in the bar at the bottom instead of just icons, is there a way to change that?
Thanks
