Playing rmvb files in Ubuntu

Even though I have RealPlayer 10 installed and even though I have all the restricted formats set-up, I have always had trouble playing .rmvb files in Ubuntu, for some reason they never worked. However all this changed today when I came across this article, I followed the steps and can now view .rmvb files in Ubuntu (Feisty Fawn) using MPlayer Movie Player. So if you too have been having trouble with such files make sure to try out the tutorial.

  1. Glad it helped. Someone asked me to figure it out cause they couldn’t get them to play (up till then I’d never heard of rmvb). It was a pain in the behind to get working, but at least it does.. :)

  2. Well your efforts are much appreciated Ross! :)
