Taking Screenshots of the iPhone Lock-Screen

iphone tag image There are times when you want to take screenshots of the lock-screen on your iPhone. Usually to show off your latest theme or modification.

When your screen is locked, you will not be able to hold the on/off & home button combo to make the screen shot.

A simple method in this case is to install UIKit Tools through Cydia (yes you need a jailbroken iPhone), then do the following:

  1. Fire up the terminal on your Mac
  2. Type: ssh mobile@ip-of-your-iphone and hit Enter
  3. You will be prompted for your password, enter it
  4. Now make sure your lock-screen is showing and in the terminal type: uishoot and hit Enter
  5. Images will be saved to: /var/mobile/Media/DCIM/ (you can also import them using iPhoto)

Enjoy
