Productivity: Evernote + Twitter
If you use both Evernote and Twitter, you may be surprised to know that you can combine these two services to create a rather powerful tool-combination.
You can easily link your Twitter and Evernote accounts, which allows you to create notes in Evernote though tweets in Twitter.
To do this:
- Follow MyEn
- Allow MyEn to follow you
- You will receive a direct message from MyEn with a link
- Click on the link to link your two accounts
Now you can create public messages or direct messages and all you need to do to create a note is to add @myen anywhere in the text. Several secconds later you will have a note in Evernote with the text from your tweet.

Sockso: Music Streaming to Anywhere
An open source music server that works with Windows, Mac and Linux.
Sockso is designed to be extremely user-friendly. There is no installation process, beyond extracting the archive and running the file inside. When you run it for the first time, you select the folder your media resides in, whether your files are in MP3, OGG Vorbis, Flac or WMA format. Once Sockso is up and running, you'll need to open a port in your firewall for it in order to access it outside your network (which Gina explains here).
After scanning your media and making sure the firewall has an open port, all your interactions with Sockso take place through the web-based interface. You can browse your collection, make playlists, download your music to pass on, and get a breakdown of your music by more recently played/popular, and so on. You can even set up accounts for your friends and accept uploads if they've got music to share with you. Sockso is an open-source media server with versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Free Music Archive: Royalty-free Music
An archive of royalty-free music, free for download and use.
Inspired by the ideas and ethos behind Creative Commons licensing, the tracks on the FMA are offered for whatever use you want. Use them to soundtrack your latest YouTube epic, remix them and release them, or download and share them with friends. The site also boasts a kind of quality control to the database of songs both live and recoded, selected by WFMU's audio archivists and curators. The search functionality works pretty well, and can be re-sorted by genre, album, or other criteria.
