LaCie Network Space: AFP not working
Some weeks ago we had a power outage in the house that lasted about 5 mins. Since then I have been unable to connect to the Network Space using the AFP protocol from my MacBook. Until today.I spent several hours today, trying to hack the Network Space in order to add ssh and telnet, in the process I learnt a lot about the device and I will cover that in another post soon.
However, if you are unable to connect to your Network Space using AFP it most probably is due to a corrupted .AppleDB file.
1. Connect to your NS using another protocol, SMB for example
2. Open the "myshare" and "openshare" folders and delete the .AppleDB files (you will only be able to see this file if you have set hidden files to be visible in OSX)
3. Restart your Network Space and then give it a few minutes to scan for files.
4. Now connect using AFP once again and it should be working.
A simple fix, but it took me weeks of searching and trying.

Thank You! Just bought a Network Space 2. AFP worked for about 10 minutes then stopped and I’ve had to use SMB.
